nope, you're wrong, know the facts bro

only deal with france was that, isro inital rocket LP 006, was a 600 kg thrust engine, by then ruseans and you yes were using heavy ones i think 240 ton, on this basis france and india made agreement to develop a massive 60 ton one (still less than that ruseans and you yes were using), and suceeeded.. both worked together, but the point here is LP 006 is alrwady inveented by then, its just of less power,. Then france named as Viking and vikas by isro to their engines.

It was agreat achievemnt, you have to understand India didnt have too much budget and resources (sicentists ) also during then, still they made a bigger achievemnt, all isro projects are of 1/4th cost compared to US and russia.

Nambi sir is a great man, his contributions to ISRO are great,

what do you get by deceiving him bro ? Arent you proud of him at all ?

he is a psycho, any sane mind would question the degree of achievement but not entirely discredit someone achievement

it was very clear that You Yes was deeply interested to sabotage India's defense and space programs, Jackass think what do NASA get anta?? only retards can make this argument who have no clue how sabotage happens between nations, India under congress was too weak to counter major nations involvements in India, congress has clearly collaborated in case of Nambi through their chamchas in police, RB Sreekumar is in jail now, this mofo though he can run his show forever without getting caught

In 1974 when India was struggling to make a reliable liquid propulsion engine the French said they could help if India provided 100 human years of work in jointly developing its 'Viking' engine. ISRO's Nambi Narayanan led the team which developed the 'Viking' engine in 1984 which was subsequently named 'Vikas'. Nambi named it after the renowned Indian scientist Vikram A. Sarabhai. Since then Vikas engine has become India's most reliable rocket engine and its variants power all Indian rockets.

1993 onwards, when the PSLV made its maiden flight, Vikas engine is the mainstay in this four-stage vehicle. Nambi Narayanan says it with some pride that "in all the 53 flights of the PSLV, the Vikas engine has never failed, it is so robust that it is very hard to make it fail!"

Since then the PSLV boosted with the Vikas engine has placed India's Chandrayaan-1 and Mangalyaan satellites in the orbit of the Moon and Mars. It has also created a world record of putting 104 satellites in space on a single mission.

Even as the PSLV was becoming the workhorse rocket for ISRO, India decided to go to the next level by mastering the cryogenic engines that use liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as fuel. Finding it tough to make it in-house, India decided to import these engines and get the technology transferred from USSR. And, in an aligning of stars, Nambi Narayanan was designated the director for the cryogenic engine project.

Just as USSR was getting ready to transfer the cryogenic technology, the USA put pressure on the then disintegrating USSR by `falsely' suggesting that India will use the cryogenic engine to make long-range missiles. Nambi now says "it was a bogus claim then, and even today no Indian missile uses cryogenic engines."

Experts say this was done by the USA to scuttle India's efforts towards acquiring rocket technology that could give their industry competition in the billions of dollars worth of commercial space market.

To add insult to injury, in 1994 a fake "ISRO Espionage" case was filed against the scientists of the Indian Space agency. The list included the name of Nambi Narayanan. The film "Rocketry" brings out how the Kerala Police and the Intelligence Bureau stooped very low to try and implicate Nambi Narayanan, whose career was ruined. It took 27 long years for Nambi to get his honour back when the Supreme Court acquitted him and ordered payment of compensation.

Unravelling the real motives of the culprits behind this heinous act of torture and national sabotage still remains a matter of investigation, three decades on.

As a consequence, the development of the cryogenic engine took a huge hit. India took nearly two decades more to master the cryogenic technology which today powers its GSLV. The first fully indigenous cryogenic engine was launched in 2017.

This two-decade-long hiatus ensured one thing. Now, no one could either deny technology or put sanctions as ISRO, plodding along slowly and diligently, made India self-reliant in all relevant forms of rocket engines. For India technology denial became a boon.

Today through the unlocking of the Indian space sector, more than 50 private technology start-ups along with ISRO are vying for the $400 billion commercial Space market.

The pain for India was bigger some say, but Nambi Narayanan was asked if the film was overdramatized for cinematic effect. He emphatically said, "I think it is under-dramatised, it is not over-dramatised. I mean if you are asking for the torture part of it, what is shown in the movie is less than what really happened … it is the truth…"

The false case slapped on Nambi Narayanan only showed that the powers that wanted to stall India's entry into the global space economy could only slow down its pace. Now India is straining at the leash to take on the big powers.

When asked if he could pardon India for the years of mental agony and trauma inflicted upon him, Nambi Narayanan said, "Who am I to pardon India? The country is good, and the people are good and I have faith in India." He wants his perpetrators exposed and India to fully succeed in the commercial space market.

So, does ISRO feel numbed because of the "Nambi effect? The answer is a resounding NO with a renewed zeal to fight against the odds and reach for the stars.

Nambi Narayanan’s claim that the case had a “catastrophic effect on his service career” is, according to Nair, a blatant lie.
It is because, Nair argues, Narayanan had applied for retirement under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme [VRS] 29 days before he was arrested on November 30, 1994.
He wanted to be relieved with effect from November 11, 1994, waiving the required notice of three months. His decision to quit ISRO was personal and professional.

"Nambi Narayanan doesn't want these pieces of information (that ISRO had planned an illegal operation and he was a crucial player in it) to become public.
Though he had approached different legal forums nearly ten times, never did he pray that the entire matter surrounding the espionage case be proved.
Moreover, when a PIL was filed before the Kerala High court for a judicial enquiry into the espionage case, he fought against it.
"He wants only that much truth that would keep him afloat in his safe zone to come to the surface and doesn't want the whole matter (for instance, who planted the false and baseless spy story and why)
to reach the public domain, " Nair maintained.

He presents whole spy case is only after him where as there are 5 more accussed who also suffered.

  • 2 weeks later...

Watched the movie last week. A good film.

koncham cinematic liberty thisukunnatu anipinchindi akkadakkada.

its a shame that no one from ISRO came to his support when he was at isro campus on that particular day.

interesting thing to notice was how fcuked up our judicial system. 5th day ney clear gaa fake case ani telisina 40 days ayindi bayatiki radaniki.
