WTC 2023 Finals: Qualification Scenarios for India, Australia,South Africa and Sri Lanka.

The race for upcoming World Test Championship Final is getting interesting and tight with each match as every teams are fightout for only two spot. Australia are currently the table topper with 76.92 PCT and India is on the second position with 58.82 PCT.

 

Australian is most likely to play in WTC finals , while other 3 team India,South Africa and Sri Lanka are in contention for qualifying . This means all 4 team are fighting out hard to make to the finals of WTC. But all depends on how these team play in their remaining matches.

 

Let's discuss about the Qualification Scenarios of India, Australia,South Africa and Sri Lanka.

 

Australia

 

Australia's remaining 6 matches are:

 

Australia vs South Africa 2nd test on 26th December - 30th December in Melbourne,

 

Australia vs South Africa 3rd Test Match , 

 

4-8 January 2023 in Sydney.

 

4 Matches Series vs India ,in India starting from February 2023.

 

Currently Australia team is positioned at the top the table with percentage points of 76.92, after 13 Matches.

 

After winning 1st Test Match against South Africa at Perth ,Australian team are in better position and if they win remaining 2 matches in the series against South Africa then they will reach upto 80.00 percentage of points and even if they lose all 4 matches against Indian in that worst scenario also they will reach minimum percentage points of 63.15 and that will be enough for Australia team to book their spot in Finals of WTC 2023.

 

But Australia still can go out of World Test Championship Final 2023 if they lose all 6 remaining matches ,then their percentage will drop down to 52.63 and other teams will be getting chance for qualification.

 

 

 

India:

 

Indian team will play 4 Test Matches Series on home Soil starting from February 2023.

 

India are currently in second position with 58.92 percentage points after defeating Bangladesh in thrilling encounter in 2nd Test Match at Mirpur by 3 Wickets and winning the 2 match test Series 2-0. With this series win(2-0) their chances for qualification improved a lot. 

 

But Indian need to win atleast 3 games against Australia when they meet them in 4 match series in February,even if they lose 1 game against Aussie then also they will reach 62.5 percentage points. 62.5 percentage will ensure that India qualifies into WTC Finals as both Australia and South Africa can't cross that number. If India lose 2 out 4 matches against Australia then their percentage will drop down to 56.94 and they need other result to go in their favour.

 

South Africa

 

South African Remaining Matches:

 

 2 vs Australia ( 26th December - 4th January 2023)

 

2 vs West Indies ( 28th February - 12 March 2023)

 

South African team lost a important 1st Test Match against Australia in Brisbane and their qualification chances will start getting tougher and tougher if then won't get back to winning track.

 

South Africa are currently on 3rd Position in Points Table with 54.55 percentage points.

 

South Africa still have 2 matches against Australia and 2 matches against West Indies at their home. If they lose remaining 2 matches in this series and clean sweep West Indies at their home then they will reach maximum of 53.33 percentage point, and their chance of qualifying will be in Doubt.

 

So South Africa have to win their remaining 4 matches ( 2 vs Australia,2 vs West Indies) to be in contention,if they manage to win all four remaining matches then will finish at 60.00 percentage point and hope of qualifying in WTC Finals will be alive.

 

 

 

Sri Lanka

 

Sri Lanka's remaining matches:

 

2 Matches vs New Zealand ( 9-21 March 2023)

 

Sri Lanka is currently on 4th Position in Points Table with 53.33 percentage points. Sri Lankan team qualification in WTC Finals is in their hand only. They just need to beat New Zealand team in 2 Match Test Series by 2-0 and they will finish with 61 percentage points and they will be in contention for finals.
