From the time I've started watching cricket - like most Indians in a batting obsessed nation - I have always had my favorite players who happened to be batsmen. From Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli.

 

For the first time in my life - I do proudly say my favorite player in the Indian cricket team is JASPRIT BUMRAH. We are so fortunate to have him play for our team - India.

If you look at the WC - in every single match someone or the other had contributed to India's win. But there was one common denominator in all of these wins - BUMRAH's consistency and threat to the opposition in every single  game. Just look at the games against Pakistan and South Africa - we were down and out and our only hope was Bumrah.

Chinnappudu Indian bowling gurinchi avahelanaga matladeyvallu - but today - Bumrah ni touch cheyyalantey bhayam.

Eeroju every single expert, every single bowling legend from Wasim Akram to Waqar Younis claim Bumrah to be No. 1 bowler in the world.

The ultimate tribute is - meelo chaala mandi history chadivaaro ledo - the West Indies cricket team used to be the world beaters in the 70's and the 80's and they had the most fearsome fast bowlers. One of the bowlers from that era was Andy Roberts and he claimed that if Bumrah played during their era - he would have found a place in their fast bowling quartet - what a tribute.

I want to repeat that - world teams are "scared" "fearful" of attacking Bumrah's overs. Essentially out of 20 overs - 4 overs are locked out - and the opposition has to play around Bumrah's overs.

In my opinion - fast bowling is the most physically draining discipline in cricket - and we as fans should recognize a diamond when we have one.

According to media reports, locals said tension had begun even before the match as a good number of players taking part in the tournament were Muslims and they were "playing well" which disturbed a section of "pro-Hindutva" locals.

Reportedly, one team playing the match mostly comprised Muslims and the other team had up to 3 Muslims.

The organizers of the cricket tournament had warned of a communal clash due to this and many of the Muslim players had expressed fear about taking part in the match, reported The Quint.

On the day of the match, a group of men including a drunkard allegedly got into a fight with Salman over parking his motorcycle.

According to The Quint, the men kept saying, "Vohra, do what we're telling you to do."

A few moments later, they returned with more men and started attacking another Muslim man named Suhail, mistaking him for Salman. Salman jumped in to save Suhail and the mob surrounded him and started beating him mercilessly until they "assumed there was no energy or will left in him," reported The Quint.
