Ofcourse not ordinary people who dont even know those concepts.

But many indian intellcutals from Vivekananda to Bal gangadhar tilak wanted to be seen as closer to europeans as aryans than other asians.

One of the reasons i thnk for Nehru racism against chinese.

Our world was very small at that time.. why would we care for African Americans and Chinese when we ourselves don’t have our independence.. given the illiteracy rate, I don’t even think anyone outside of the educated people in the big cities even know about the struggles of African Americans in US.. Du Bois is an African American rights activist.. I really doubt he even stepped in India to write all this..

Antha scene ledhu.

Gandhi started his political career in south africa. There too - he made it clear he sees blacks as different and inferiori to Indians.

Also bal gangadhar tilak and vivekananda used to believe in "aryan" theory that north indian upper castes came from europeans or something like that.  Later on even south indian brahmins joined the bandwagon that they are also aryan or some crap like that. Ofcourse british encouraged that theory because it makes it easy for indians to accept them as their rulers.

But indians never fully rejected it. They should have rejected all these fake racial theories and shown solidarity with our neighbours and colonial struggles in africa.

Ofcourse some indians did do that but some did not also.

Religion/Race existed for centuries.. we see racial issues even now in US and England…. We had our own share of issues with caste, religion and untouchability… independence may be a much bigger struggle than all of these at that time.. manake dikku ledu anukunte, malli africans kosam em poradathaam vaa..

so thinking those issues with the current mindset and passing judgements doesn’t make any sense..
