because Vikram movie producer ki kooda aa rights undhi to use the music.

nuvvu patha vikram movie choosintey, there are atleast 4-5 references you can spot in the new one.

patha vikram maatram kaadhu, it has references to a lot of Kamal Haasan films including Nayagan, and lesser known vetri vizha.

the tunnel that folks escape out of in the 2nd half is also at the same exact location that paatha Vikram was shot - Vetri cinemas.

Vikram is inspired by 1949 movie 'The Third Man'. Kamal gave the story outline based on the idea of Vikram as a 'ghost' from this movie, and Lokesh developed it to a movie.

Ofcourse Vikram is sh1t compared to 'The Third Man'. not even close.

But then a friend used to tell me that all interesting films were already made by 1950s. Now we are just rehashing them with new technologies and adding boring layers on top of them.

I think he's right. movie is a dead medium, that exists purely as commercial escapist fantasy or a social commentary, and not as art.
