what is 'Indian values'?

every man who's emotionally shut off will only raise kids that are either too dependent on them, or distant from them, just like they are from the world around them.

becoming a parent is not a decision one should take lightly. the consequences are rather life changing in every way.

one day you'll open your eyes to what is happening around you, and see how hard it is to get by in life for everyone who's not in your circle, and how incredibly lucky you are (even if you think you worked hard to get there, plenty of people work hard too).. one small mistake can cost someone their entire place in the society. kids realise this much early in their life and stick to the parents even while being disapproving of them.

world is a harsh place. and we want only our own little small kingdom to be a paradise. it won't be. kids are there to show you that it isn't. and that some of the choices you made need revisiting.

like being more open to others. Kids will still hate their parents in their teens, but will end up as wonderful adults atleast. Or they'll probably join the rat race and do their bit to further fcuk up the world.

for eg. some kid spends a lot of time on internet chatboards in his teens and has decided to join the DSA when he's old enough to do so.

how do you think parent would react to that?

would they push him to join the pointless hamster wheel economy that is deeply crushing to his ego, or let him to go another bunch of loser DSA types that practise mob mentality to all problems in the world that they think they need solving through 'consensus'?

mostly parents would convince him to join the formal economy. What is the formal economy? a bunch of overpaid keystroke punching programmers who hit a deadend by the time they are 30.

what are the options for the kid? tell me. parents are not helpful, the world outside is scary.

all well raised adults I've met have had wonderful amazing parents. Mostly leftists and communists who freely talk to their kids.. fight with them. etc.

parents who can't even provoke their kids to talk to them, even in jest, probably made the wrong choice to have kids.

keep trying is all I can say to parents. your kids don't hate you. They just don't find it useful to talk to you. but they don't hate you. you are all they have.

I think the only thing a parent can teach their kids is how to be independent. to be curious and assertive for what he believes is right.

i've met teen kids of my sis recently when they came to chennai. they stayed for 5 days, and the kids made such a hue and cry about the heat, about having nothing to do.

my mom thinks the kids are just badly raised. but no, I think they atleast speak their mind, and they are willing to engage with you, if you put the effort.

I had wonderful conversations with them while driving them around. no problem. I understand its not the same for the mom/dad.

my sis personally doesn't give a fcuk. she didn't even care about the kids. lmao. she promised me that next time she's not bringing them at all.

if Indians had any 'values' worthy of being taught,  kids will pick them up by themselves.
