In a recent development, Nagaland just got its second railway station after a gap of more than 100 years with the commissioning of a new facility at Shokhuvi. Dimapur Railway Station, which is situated in the heart of the commercial hub of the state, was inaugurated in 1903.

As per the latest reports, CM Neiphiu Rio flagged off the Donyi Polo Express from Shokhuvi Railway Station, which used to run daily between Guwahati in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh. Now, the said train service has also been extended till Shokhuvi, which is around a few kilometers from Dimapur.

AS per the reports, with the extension of Donyi Polo Express till Shokhuvi Railway Station now, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh will be directly connected by train service. Referring to this, the Chief Minister stated that this is a historic day for Nagaland, as the state got the 2nd railway terminal passenger services after a gap of more than 100 years on Dhansari-Shokhuvi railway line.

The Chief Minister further requested railway officials to make sure that the Dimapur Railway Station got its due share of development so that it expands further and continues to serve not only the people of Nagaland, but also those of the neighbouring districts of Assam.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Anshul Gupta added that it is a proud moment for the Indian Railways and NFR that is making all efforts to connect all the capitals of the northeastern states with railways in a time-bound manner.

Further, the foundation stone for the 90-km-long broad gauge route from Dhansiri in Assam to Zubza in Kohima district of Nagaland was laid in 2016, for which work is underway, and the deadline was extended from 2020 to 2024. Gupta added that the said line will be extended to Aizawl via New Kohima and Imphal.

Not a fan of bjp.. but all the projects need allocations in the budget.. just estimations, documents lo pedithe ravu kadaa

Budget allocations are decided based on lots of parameters many railway routes get funding based on ROR, even many with good ROR get ignored sometimes.

The Survey of projects and estimates itself take 2-3 yrs in some cases, NE is not a easy place for rapid expansion due to many environmental constraints it will be done in phases.

One more case I would say the Chenab Railway bridge on the Jammu - Baramula line was sanctioned late 2003 and was planned to be completed by 2009.

DUe to many planning and stability concerns of the high altitude construction it got delayed many a times its design was reworked and started back in 2008 and halted again and slowly after many deadlines reworked it got completed recently but is yet to be inaugurated. Its doesn't always need be the fund allocation the major hurdle for projects.

For Indian railways most of the delays are due to funding issues. Honestly 90% of delays in India are due to that.  India has large labour base and capacity to execute projects , just lacks funding

Thats how RB works and their fund allocations.. There are many projects having done with Surveys and yet to have good progress inspite of having very good ROR.
