New WhatsApp scams india people

One of my friends here received a message from an US number impersonating his known person’s WhatsApp pic but different number. 

The message says I’m creating a new indo American group page with more security code. And he says to send the code he receives, now the person receives a code which is used to login to WhatsApp in different phone. 
my friend didn’t share the code. He replied to him you are fake and blocked. He left his phone a side and after sometime when he opened WhatsApp again it was all reset and he logged in again without suspecting anything.

After few hours when it is morning in india timings and we sleep. His friends and family got a message from india number WhatsApp with profile pic of my friend’s WhatsApp. And started asking money in india.
We are not sure how the scammer  could able to steal contacts without sharing code. 

Now another person reported in local groups here he got same message with different US number and name but WhatsApp was reset after that and he also didn’t share the code with the scammer. 

I can’t even say stay alert and don’t share code, the bastard stole contacts anyway without even receiving the code from the victims.
