Idi basic ga manollake kaadu le vaa most Asian cultures are frugal with how they spend their money. 

I know some Chinese people who run a restaurant, they live very frugally and save all the money. Oka intlo 12 mandi untaru 3 families, bro, sister and mom and dad they saved up enough money to buy houses with complete cash down. This was in the Bay Area btw.

Plus not everyone does it for status baa some people are just brought up with very frugal living values. 

Naa wife aunt okame undi she is a top IP lawyer raking in a million dollars an year, but beyond the place where they live which is expensive they drive basic cars nothing too fancy and don't spend on any fancy gadgets etc. 

Point is before she got wealthy she was always raised in a frugal environment as her dad passed away when she was a child so her mom brought her up in a very frugal manner being a single working woman. So she acquired those habits, they spend when needed but not for show off

You never see or rarely see an indian buying anything near office vending machine. He will think why waste $2 on a bottle of coke/water when you can get it so much cheaper in super market.

But same will spend 250k in daugthers wedding - looking miserable in that lalchi pajama dress. will buy a 75k dollar car without ever driving beyond super marrket runs.

Almost everything they do it is to show off and create a status.

What’s the use of money when you can’t show off how rich you are - is the mind set of most Indians.
