This is not about gay but in general people like this inspire me to be a better parent, it could be anything some people just freak out listening to their kids if they wanted to  do something different like love/partners, education or even as small as breaking or losing something expensive. It gives an immense pleasure to see someone when they approach with pragmatism and maturity in averse situations like this
