Secularism in India

Secularism is not hindu, muslim or Christianity. It is non interference any of this in government and administration. It is the term coined to stop the interference of church in the government policy and administration back in the days when church was center of everything.

Indian’s misconstrued it’s meaning as India was/is a secular nation as we are not governed by some matt/ mandir or masjid or church but by an elected government. Ideologically governments might differ but we are secular to the core

This issue is a matter of uniform civil code than secularism, India is a complex nation with wide ranging religions and it’s associated laws including state and city laws. It is important to bring them under uniform civil code but it is difficult and even a country like USA struggles with this, The US common Code only includes the general and permanent laws of the United States but a lot of states have their own laws especially real estate laws and family laws(like gay marriages) etc.

Similarly muslims courts has certain jurisdictions like family matters and then some. What issues pertaining in this video is related can be debated, if their argument is why do they need a waqf board or mulsim courts/saria law then that provision can be debated on how and why it was granted.

my point is this is a matter of uniform civil code than secularism
