Bay area lo no more land. Its not like rest of the country and yes permissions for new homes will decline as all the land is exhausted

builders kaadhu anna.. Home owners, and city councils dominated by NIMBYs.

california state passed a legislation to allow multi family home zoning in all cities in california.. yet some wealthy cities like Atherton found a loophole around it to avoid handing out new building permits.

I admit housing policy should not be dictated at the state level, but state legislatures can provide incentives for cities that have a very high percentage of multi family zoning.

this number includes the condos, not just single family homes.

Hong Kong with just 1000sqkm has more people than the bay area. aa 1000sqkm lo only about 150sqkm is residential commercial, public utilities space.. migatha antha forest land, agri land, some villages.
