More lives will be lost as people search for alternate sources like illicit liquor and arrack...Gujarat probably has highest number of spurious liquor deaths than anywhere else...Liquor should be controlled but banning liquor will do more harm than good.

Agree....illicit liquor deaths would spike a lot. But it is still very low when compared to when liquor freely available.

Average Life expectancy goes down with liquor, not to mention a big divide between drinkers and non drinkers.

My best friend of 25 years started drinking and is prefers to hang out more with drunkards and now suffering from multiple health issues.

People without this habit will focus more on their growth and will come out ahead.

No it didn't , it's a product of Gujarati culture where they don't eat meat or drink

Look at neighbouring rajasthan , they share similar amount of meat eaters , alcohol drinkers

You can also find the cultural difference between andhra and Telangana , since both states were under same govt but drinking figures are more than double

If you want to "ban alcohol" , it can be done only through cultural changes ,not govt regulations

Both should go hand in hand.

Govt should reward non drinkers instead of just punishing drinkers with higher taxes.

Trust me, Liquor ban will create more troubles socially. 2 months bars and wine shops shut chesthe covid lockdown apudu people even drank sanitizer bottles to get high...among all the stuff, liquor is much better and if liquor is banned, people will find alternate substances like weed, heroine, synthetic drugs and other narcotics...In a way, liquor is able to restrict people from getting addicted to much more harmful substances...it is a bad habit but there are even worse habits.

Kerela, Bihar, Gujarat are best examples..

Weed is actually safer than alcohol. It 'sounds' dangerous because its not as socially acceptable as alcohol yet. Imagine a world where its the other way around. Alcohol would be put in the same bucket as synthetic drugs.

It should be gradual and controlled....like slowly banning over 10-15  years.

Anyways there is something far more dangerous than Alcohol to which people are addicted. We even give it to our kids.

It is artificial sugar. It should be banned first.
