the visual style is generic, akkadey poyindhi movie. inka that puts a lot of pressure on the makers to stay true to the book to compensate for lack of creativity visually (not boojumouli kinda of 3rd rate visuals).

Lord of rings, star wars, japanese movies etc also have local names - but they make sure they prepare the audience one way or other... Also they are all web series... And targeted for mostly educated audience. 

Pure arrogance at play here... No common person outside of Tamil Nadu have heard about the novel - and they are saying it's your fault for not knowing the characters...

This movie missed the basic movie technique - audience should root for the hero / heroine - establish the conflict at beginning.

Where is the conflict here? 

Chola / pandavas are 2 groups - why would I root for anyone them ?
