If you are opting for Texas , despite what people say, would suggest moving to Austin, since its remote you can may be opt for apartments or places which are a little far from the city ,

advantage would be to do job hunting and Austin will be a good market when that time comes,

relocate and continue doing the remote now and plan for job search

or

even better option would be to find a job in Austin and ask the company to pay for relocation , you may be savings thousands in relocation costs and may find an even better opportunity than the current job
