To give you more data points, I've recently cleared L7 Amazon (Sr Manager), Roblox (Manager), Snowflake (IC5 - Sr Manager) and all these interviews are way way easier compared to a staff role.

Did u also interview for staff positions at same companies? If not, ur comparing apples to oranges. Question in design round is upto interviewer. Generally there wont be any guidelines.

fyi, i cleared roblox mgr interview 6 yrs back.. ee db lo chaala sarlu edicha 50+ million oppurtunity missed ani 😀😀😀

Yes boss. If you remember our conv from 2020, I did clear staff at Roblox and Meta. I cleared L6 at Amazon many times before and never joined.

I got a reject from Stripe last year for staff, now I'm doing eng manager onsite and the tech expectations are lot lesser. Also Staff in Stripe is a DRI for 1-2 teams (this is what I was told) so a lot is expected from staff compared to a eng manager.

+1 to the list of many missing opportunity stories we hear in the Bay Area.

In my friends group,

1. One guy rejected an offer from WhatsApp in 2012 or early 2013.
2. A friend from Meta who worked on Presto at that time rejected Snowflake in 2017 and joined in 2021 only to lose. Now he is back at Google.

While my neighbor's wife who went to a shitty school for Masters, never had a proper job (always worked for noname website or app companies), joined Snowflake in 2015. Recently I went to their housewarming ceremony in Palo Alto and she proudly announced she has a snowflake tattoo on her thigh to everyone in the party and they bought a vacation property in Tahoe area (Truckee), Hawaii, Florida. There are many things that influence this kind of fluke like the interview bar was nothing at either Roblox or Snowflake when you guys got offers including this lady and company's success.

I was so fortunate to reject Uber offer in 2015. While we're talking about tail end success, missed opportunities, fluke, there are many many failures in the Bay area.

800k  savijngs on 5 jobs will take 2 years at least.

I know two close people who are making 5 jobs in family - they make about 750k altogether - one makes like 850k i think.

Andhulo 300k plus goes to taxes and 120k living costs. So migilindhi 300-400k.

So atleast 2-3 years ba.

230k at what company?

at L7/e7 at google/fb and ic6 at apple, base pay should be ignored. Rsu’s and bonus are the key.

l7/e7 at goog/fb base can go as high as 350-400k too
