if you sell, you have to pay 15% tax on gains, and you should get for 15% lesser to buy spy  again

Also , unless you are trading , buy voo instead , less expensive , you can even buy fxaix even less expensive but it is a mutual fund , sometimes year end distributions can cause tax burden

I personally wouldn't sell if its SPY ETF. Individual stocks ayithe may be P/e ratio susi sell chesetodini emooo.

There is no point in paying capital gains tax now, when you know index will go up sometime again in future for sure. 

My 2 cents. Think about it.
