• India's central bank has rolled out a pilot scheme for a digital rupee, which will have the same value and legitimacy as a banknote or coin.
• The e-rupee is very different from cryptocurrency due to its highly centralized nature, the Reserve Bank of India bank says.
• Fewer than a dozen countries have so far fully implemented a digital currency, according to think-tank the Atlantic Council.
• China and the US are either testing their own version of digital currency or preparing to roll it out.

its still fiat currency…so not seeing any real benefit….apart from saving some inter banking transactions costs…and some god view on transactions…

not getting it…are you talking about public ledger..?

public ledger has all transactions… in every one hand..

if its not block chain, and if some one hacks their system for ransom how will it work

lets talk basic scenario…

lets assume digital rupee is full implemented…you holding that in you digital wallet which is an app in your phone… 

if some one steal your mobil you lost everything…pretty much same for any scenario…

they have released two types of digital rupee wholesale and retail…

retail is for people like us and day to day transactions…who ever holding the digital ruppe at that time he is the owner of that…there is no public ledger like how he got that currency…

only ledger maintained by govt…now a days you know how govt using ED and CBI…it will be the same…

credit card and phone two different entities in that scenario...

now..if you lost phone...you will loose everything...including identity...

how will you call and verify with bank about your identity..or entering OTP..etc

we are putting all over life in mobile..

but any way...topic is going side ways...
