ftr, I don't think Tesla should be held accountable without proof of failure of their systems. The burden of proof is definitely on the Chinese investigative authorities and not on Tesla. But Tesla's logs and its supporters claims cannot be taken at face value.

that previous UIA cases were all found to be drivers fault is not an excuse to move on from this mishap.

That’s why they brought third party investigators to work and determine the issue. At least I’m not defending tesla but I think 99% of times it’s people pressing wrong pedal and split second think they did right.

 

recently when I was driving a person tried to merge into my lane when I’m in his blind spot. I thought he hit me. My instinct quickly swerved to diff lane which was luckily clear. I looked at my dash cam later and he wasn’t even close to lane I reacted too early. My point is when you are in such panic situations you think you did one thing but in reality it’s diff.

 

also the point they made in twitter is even if there are many failure points as long as they press brake pedal it will stop. All Tesla brakes are independent controlled. Even car computer has to pull brake pedal to stop. It can’t electronically control. So the person in china either pressed wrong pedal or the car went into bug mode but he didn’t hit brake pedal to slow it down. He could have swerved away from road too to prevent damage. There could be lot going on.

It’s not reckless driving. The rear lights were on means he was trying to stop but it is not stopping. Something is wrong. Even the steering wheel seems got locked.

I'm not bragging about greatness of chennai, like you are desperately trying to get me to agree that China is amazing.
