Yes but still long way to go. Air india will increase more east side connections like 

west side not much difference for air india like europe or usa. May be they will increase more direct flights in longer term

Six Indian cities will be connected to six destinations in USA and services will be at least 3 times a week, that will be about 50-70 non stop between India and USA which will be monopoly. Apart from that, Europe and Northern Africa non stop services.
