Expanse had the same problems from the first season. badly written characters thrust into extraordinary situations.

it was tolerable for a few seasons, but these characters do not learn and change through out the show and it becomes infuriating to watch as the show goes on.

still I watched it, coz I'm a sucker for sci fi crap.

expanse suffers from the same problem that most other space operas suffer from. integrating space mythology (protomolecule in this case) into a grounded story with interesting characters.

Dune was one of the few exceptions that managed to do it.

Culture series also succeeded to a certain extent because it stuck to describing a stunning space utopia governed by AI, and brought up interesting social theories about human interactions and needs

Expanse (both the book, but even more in the show) relies on use of cliches that get worse as the show goes on. I didn't read the book past the first volume, but its only the belters that are described in detail. The earth people are completely absent and are represented only through avasarala, who was written rather poorly.
