Parents Travel Question

Parents travelling to USA in January for 6 months visit but valla passport is expiring by end of the August. Passport validity ithae during  entire  stay vuntundhi but someone said US need extra 6 months validity beyond the intended stay annaru. can someone throw some light? 

We are trying to renew it before travel but looks like slots are not available for passport renewal in india and Parent travel is important in January.

I think India is exempt from this..

worst case is you will get only for 2 months.. and then apply for passport renewal from here (if that is possible)

checked with broker but everyone is saying no slots available.

yeah checked this but not exactly sure how this work.
