 I have seen this trend all along the east coast from Orissa to Tamil Nadu. You know because of the caste system, the bottom 20% of the population used to stay bit away from the rest of the 80% in the villages. The areas inhabited by these 20% have been mostly converted.

No it much more than money and not simple to explain, main influence is from within the family, maa neighbor okkapudu west godavari kamma well to do family but vallu sudden okka roju convert ayyaru(they were going through emotional distress after miscarriage and don't know what transpired), valla relatives chala mandi ni convert chesaru, this was in early 2000's, luckily they never pushed their agenda on neighbors
