1. Elon increased his wealth from few billions to hundreds of billions in very short time ( 3 years). So he is just frocking around  , cause he doesn't care about money anymore  or he has god complex with the hype he received all over the world.

2. Elon is a puppet of GOP because they pumped his stock ridiculously, they are pulling the strings with a threat of crashing his TSLA value if he doesn't play ball.

3. Elon wants to sell cars to right wing people, so being a space karen to appease right wing nuts.

Agree with (1)… but (2) and (3) are not convincing… his most loyal customers are democrats and it is not good for him to alienate them.. public perception play a big role in convincing customers to buy a product.. Repubs are not much into electric cars etc and they hated the subsidies given to support electric vehicles..
