very promising for energy sector ...US will get more powerful

such things won't be allowed. US will pick something to control the world

this tech will be sold to satellite nations first like germany and japan

Assalu ame em cheppindhi. Edho faking lekka undhi. First time two particles into one ani cheppindhi. Dheentlo new enti? Chinese did some time back. Recently south Korea also did. And I remember reading the guys in ITER project also did. The biggest challenge for all of them is to keep running the process for long enough to produce the net energy and to continue more. In all the previous cases, they were able to run from a few second to a minute or two. Containing the energey generated is the biggest challenge in the process. The one Chinese/Korean generated is multiple times hotter than the core of Sun.

There are two ways to generate nucluear energy. One is fission which is what everyone has been doing so far. It is process of splitting the atom into multiple. This produces vast amout of radio active waste and it is difficult to store. Single catastrophic event can cause huge damage. You must have heard about the half-life. It takes thousands of years for those nuclear waste to decay.

The second process is called fusion. This is 100s, 1000s of times more powerful than fission process. This is safer and doesn't produce harmful radio active material. In this case two or more elements are combined into one thus releasing huge energy. This is the process happens in the core of Sun. But the problem with this process is humans are unable to come up  with the technology to contain the released energy within the walls and continue the process for longer times. There are some theories using plasma to contain the hear/energy. It is not fruitful so far yet. Scientists are working on it. What she said in the press meet didn't address about containing the energy generated during the process which is crucial bit.

Today, for the first time, a fusion reactor has produced more energy than was used to trigger the reaction.

This is crucial bit she didn't talk in the press meet.

Earlier cases didn't produce the net energy though Chinese/SKorea ran the process for the longest time ever which is 30 seconds or a minute.
