Fifa world cup if you observe no one besides south American or European continents has won the cup outside these two continents. Not even runner ups. 

 

But in  cricket

Asia, Europe, Polynesia , Caribbean , Africa (icc tournaments)

Despite this contrast cricket is not popular outside the playing nations and it's money strictly comes from south Asia + Australia 

If anyone to blame that is England monopoly on the tournaments.

They organized all the world cups.. when India came forward to organize the world cup in 1989 the ridiculed bcci.. and they are one reason world cup didn't begin until 1975. TBH England don't want anyone play cricket other than elites for half of the century..that is why cricket didn't grow in USA ..gentmelman club of Philadelphia is example . Only elite ..

.andukane  Jerry Parker started world series to give cricket fame ..like ipl back in 1977.
