Even tho pic has shoes but that was real.. in school they had it in books but they didn’t say neharu didn’t buy.. they said Indian govt was not able to afford.

annai, mana 50s team ki bare feet tho adey alavatu undey, most of the indians from that era played with bare feet. Brazil worldcup ki mana India team backout ayindi kuda same reason valla becoz they dont want to play with shoes. My grandpa also played without shoes as well with his friends and colleagues. 

Also Chhetri mentioned in some interviews about this already, and even his uncles and others always played with bare feet to begin with.. 

But later generation players in 70s played somewhat well but could not match with other countries at international level. By 80s the sport suffered funding and other issues. 90s were worse and international skill level was beyond our talent.  Leagues in Europe and South America started dominating the sport in late 80s and has been the same till today.

Shoes was only manadated by FIFA in 1953 or 55, some people played barefoot, so it was by choice
