Go for $1  million  and 30 years, you basically lock in the rate, otherwise malla 50 years life insurance ante will be very expensive, more often not people have some kind of health issues at that age

Why 30 years? Premium will double 20vs 30 and its of no use once kids cross 25 years age as they will work and settle

10-20 years will just fly by, based on your age you might get $1million/30 for $50 but at 40 years it be $90 or $150 and with inflation it might increase as well, general retirementment age is 60 years and you want to protect your family until that age, after 60 your kids might already be on their own.

also $500k doesn’t get you much now, 10 years ago it might have been alright but in another 20 years it might not be enough
