I actually was asking about rooftop solar in Hyderabad.

Sorry for the confusion.

In Hyderabad, before Covid it was 2.2 Lakhs which was around 3500$ at that time.

Now with Rupee rate at around 82.5, if it is still 2.2L, it would be 2666$....more than 800$ less.

Don't think that it makes any sense to get it installed in US. But its a no brainer in India.

If you own the house ,it makes great sense to install solar especially if your usage is high

But i wouldn't get on grid solution for india because you can experience power cuts and have to deal with  govt employees.

I would definitely get offgrid setup even if it costs a bit more

We have an inverter for power cut....its a much cheaper option.

How many years will it take to make this investment work? You probably save $100 to $200 per month in non winter months.. may be $2000 per year… and it takes 15 years to 20 years to recover the Investment

Just investment paramga 15-20 years. But if sell the home in the time period, home value will increased because of solar

Well offgrid solution is just similar to inverter , you can also reduce the storage capacity if you think costs are high

Ad you don't have to bribe state electricity board unlike ongrid

I have already done one installation.

This would be my second. I never had to bribe anyone.

Go with Local solar installer who as good word of mouth.

Don't go for big companies. They charge lot more for the same panels.

Local installer will take care of all the paperwork....getting subsidy and all.

You just sign some papers with them and then sit back and relax.

I did everything from USA .... very easy and pretty cheap.

Homes are powered by both electricity and gas… you use more electricity in summer and more gas in winter..

if the govt really wants to protect the environment, they should mandate that a certain % of the electricity generation should be from renewable sources..

giving up your 5000sq ft single home to live in a condo will save mother earth much better. but americans are already fcuked up beyond repair and embrace useless solutions like electric car instead of just taking the bus.

car defines freedom, freedom defines murica ...
