Bay Area min wage is $18 - Rents high - Meat is $10 per pound still you feel $25 expensive ? In life you get what you pay for - No one runs business for loss - You should upgrade your standard of living as time progress - If you compare a spoon full or chipotle and Panda express for $10 our guys are still generous to give $25 buffet .

Agreed bro your knowledge in restaurant handling is too deep,

But general common people like me pre-pandameic post clear ga kanapadthundi difference I agree it increased in all aspects

But mari mango Lassi ki 7$ ante some how not able to justify the price I am not exaggerating see sarvana bhavan menu

If yiu go decent restaurant like bj Applebee's Chillis for kids some times akada intha diff anipinchadam ledu malli mana restaurants lo always h I t and miss

Agree the cost that is burdening the Indian restaurant owners but like 100% diff

Anduke dallas prosper frisco mckinney areas best for food atleast here also full dining  restarunts like sankalap saravana bhavan are konchem costly but lot of curry point options and home made fresh food made for little low cost 4$ breakfast options and weekend end 20$ family brunches options manchiga dorykutunnayee in home made kitchen ..and food truck options kooda low cost effective unnai frisco lo shoddock homes community lo pedatadu weekend lo..

Bayarea weather and opportunities may be different but dallas food wise variety of options in decent prices..konni communities lo 7 to 8  made kitchens available competing so prices competitive ga unnai..

Some days we get 3$ ravva upma with coconut chutney..options ite amazing..

Overall many desi home kitchens  in dallas area are running in whatsapp itself

I would never open a indian restaurant in USA its full of liabilities .

1) Labor is expensive

Tamil Chefs cost 4000-6000 - illegal aliens

B1/B2Uncles Aunty from India cost less - Illegal Aliens

Mexican and others - Min Wage is $18 average + above 40 over time and health Insurance + other benefits

   Workers Comp + Liability Insurance

4000$ min for a 2 bedroom accommodation for these illegal chefs (  you are liable for all the illegal stuff they do there )

2) Restaurant Rents are average $6000-$10000 from 10 seater to 50 Seater

      $15000-$20000 for 100-150 seater

3) Most Restaurants Serve Halal meat its 30% more than regular meat / chicken

4) Indian Customer will always think about cost and savings only when buying indian food , Booking banquet hall

Before the food cost used to be 30% with inflation now it comes close to 50%

Today each cauliflower cost $7 and a Egg cost more than $1

US fast food restaurants have 5x to 10x margin because they have a proper system and supply chain . All their food is processed at bought at bulk etc - Most indian restaurants buy from local stores and make fresh food . Which cost more than than American restaurants - Also remember indian chefs are scarcity and its a skill nor every one can do like a burger or pizza . Also must remember we use indian spices in indian food all of that comes from india .
