Some A-380s may get converted to have more business class seats in future - even if that happens, India won't be the market. Singapore / malaysia/ Australia etc... from Gulf is the target for those plans I guess

Cannot say it “won’t”… 🙂

Indians are spending more on comfort.. so many ppl here post about their business class travel.. but are they willing to go on business class in Air India is the question

Premium economy is the new game changer for A380’s and 777’s. Air India’s new flights from SFO-BOM, SFO-BLR now has premium economy on some days. Emirates is now refitting most of their A380’s with premium economy and they have started flying between DXB-LHR and expect to fly to USA  this summer.

Non stop ledu.. it stops in Delhi.. and will continue to Hyderabad after refueling.. I think the current flights have a max time of 14.5 hours… Delhi to Hyderabad is 2 hours..

DFW to gulf countries is also 14.5 hours..

Only the A380 and Boeing 777 ER can fly that long.. but with less passengers (to reduce weight and get more miles for the fuel).. so they need more business class seats to make up for the high costs, for which India is not a good market..

AI 108 nadichindi nonstop from ord to hyd from Jan 2021 to March 2022. Tata ki hands marinppudu aapesaru. More direct flights to usa planned in future.

Looks like it was not profitable.. they must be losing money on that route..

I heard diff version....Hyd airport lo high fees on international arrival flights...Air India (before TATA take over) itself stopped the service because of these high fees.....ade delhi lo stop over undi, ade flight malli hyd ki velthe, domestic laaga fee unde anta. Otherwise this direct Non-stop flight was always full....weekly only once undedhi...so all midwest folks preferred this flight.

I don’t think that’s the reason…air craft availability kosam it’s a temp suspension. Air India started new routes from JFK,EWR,SFO to DEL/BOM/BLR and they area daily service….so each route need to have two flights and for every third route needs to have a back up flight…anduvalla they suspended this sector for now. They expect another 2-3 B777’s to join the fleet soon and May resume this service.

Good to know... A380s need a new market to survive, if not some of them are going to scrap yards !!!

Yeah, suddenly with spurge in demand almost every airline which has their A380’s stored away are bringing back them to service again. Emirates yet to bring another 30 from storage, Qatar, Etihad, Air France, Singapore have bought their 380’s back to device and by the time summer travel starts almost all of the 380’s will start to fly again and most of them with Premium Economy.

Super ...

I found premium economy pricing not that attractive - I always end up thinking either go for business by looking for a deal or try my luck at bidding or at gate / points etc..

I'm a fan of a380... Just the sheer size of it ...

what’s is the main difference between premium economy and economy expect difference in earned miles and cancellations/change fee ?

seat pitch will be wider, will recline more, leg room will be more, a bigger screen in front, a reading lamp usually and leg rest. This segment fits between economy and business.

long haul flights la usual layout will be 3-4-3 in economy...whereas premium economy it will be 3-3-3 in a row.
