NTR was the first non Congress CM of AP .He elected as CM of AP for 3 times.some of his famous schemes are :

#)2rs /kg rice for people whose income is below poverty line.

#) He did away with the feudal munusobu and karanam system to empower elected leaders of the local government.

#) He abolished feudal system in Telangana

#) He is the person who initiated and completed TELUGU GANGA project . The project which is responsible for providing drinking and irrigation water in drought prone RAYALASEEMA and it also provide drinking water for Chennai.

#) He is person who developed TANK BUND and BUDHA statue in HYDERABAD

#)He reduced the retirement age of government employees to 55 from 58.

#) He is the person who gave equal rights to women in inheritance property.

#) He abolished LIQUOR during his tenure in state.

#) He is person behind EAMCET.

#) He is the person who started APRJC colleges.

#) He developed the medical facilities in VIJAYAWADA and transport facilities in HYDERABAD.

#)He abolished Patel-Patwari systemwhich was based on inheritance that dominated Telangana.

#) He initiated large scale decentralization of governance and accountability with his Mandal Praja Parishads (M.P.P).The Mandal Praja Parishad as a democratically elected body at Mandal level was introduced by NTR (NTR re-coined a Mughal era term "Tehsil" or revenue district into Mandal). Tehsils which were run by bureaucrats with the sole responsibility of tax collections till that point were now bringing political empowerment to groups who had difficulty aspiring to hold state level political office (MLA, MP, ZPTC Chairman etc.,). The extensive 50% reservations for SC/ST/BCs in MPPs and the fact that MPP presidents were directly elected by people living in the Mandal made local govt responsive to local needs.

#) He is person who introduced transparency in TTD .

#)He is person for implimentation of women,SC,St reservations in local body elections even though the bill is passed long time ago.

#) He dissolved and removed the AP legislative council which he thought it as a waste of money .

#) He gave land to people of below poverty line 

#) He gave electricity to Farmers at a cost of 50rs/year .

#) He is the person who always thought about strong central- state relationship and during his tenure only a non Congress government was formed at centre.

#) he is the person who is responsible for VISAKHAPATNAM STEEl PLANT and ISRO lanuching station in Sri Hari kota Because he actively lobbed with the central government.

#)He established Godavari fertilizers and he sold loss making psu .

Extra: His party didn't contested in parliament seat where PV NARASHIMHA RAO contested because he want an ANDRA person as PM.
