7500 if you qualify from IRS and 4k fe company, no state tax for NJ .. you can try getting a base model 3 . No upgrades - don't pay for any of the autopilot stuff. Not bad IMO.

You will save a bit monthly.. also yours is old enough. If you need another car, it's slam dunk - you can just get it without any thought.

most of folks dont really understand the commercial side of gas demand, the spike in gas demand is barely being scratched by EV not touching the original usage

on the other side, EV's are increasing the costs on utility bill so you end up paying almost the same, gas cars end up cheaper by every means

I get this point... Already utilities are rising and expected to rise more than inflation.

Gas prices can actually go lower... We have seen how low they can go in the past.

It will have big impact on semi and cyber truck sales... Especially semi, they are very price conscience.

However, I think ev car demand will be there till the price of charging car is comparable to gas... Epecially in western countries...

in NJ, you get NJ state rebate for 2k, PSEG/JCPT is giving additional $1500, Level 2 charger rebate another $250. So nearly 11.5k rebate for EV right now.

M3 is a great local/grocery/kids drop off kind of car. Long rides ki reliable but comfort or not depends on your family situation. Cost analysis point of view lo I think M3 is a great car.
