The only Correct way to reply to these people is through statistics

https://m.rbi.org.in//scripts/PublicationsView.aspx?id=17785

PER CAPITA income of andhra in 1994 is 7,771

Karnataka 8100 , kerala 8600 , Tamil Nadu 9932

per capita income of andhra in 2004 19,960

Karnataka 26882, kerala 32850 ,Tamil Nadu 30060

Andhra Pradesh was the slowest growing southern state with the least literacy and lowest social indicators during Chambas rule

Andhra lagged severely behind all other southern states both in absolute and percentage terms. Infact AP under chamba could only compete with bimaru states.

We were almost neck to neck with Karnataka in 1994 and fell a generation behind in just 9 years

But chamba rule did benefit one community immensely , maybe that's why they say it is the golden age of "Telugu" people.
