US Visa still drop box

Hi,
I just heard from my friend that dropbox eligibility is extended. Is it true ?

I had my visa stamping expired in Oct 2020. During covid and post covid, they extended the drop box to dec 2022.
I am in the impression that i have to go to interview this time, as my old visa expired 48+ months.

If anyone has been through this situation or know what is the process (interview vs dropbox) please let me know.

Check in thier website or use websites like redbus or am22tech to check. Youa re eligible mostly if your visa is expired in last 48 months and last visa is approved without any refusals.

is 2018 the expiration date on your visa printed in your passport ?
If so then your visa is expired more than 48 months. how are you still eligible for drop box ?

My visa stamping expiration date in passport is 2016,  never had any refusals, mine is drop box.
If u r 10 finger printed at any time in the past, applying visa in the same category issued after 2008 and never had any refusals, then the case drop box only. Even if u prefer In-person interview, u r not allowed, u get get only drop box option and only drop box slots are shown while booking an appointment.
