How much can you save after working for a decade in merica?

Most of our folks fall under $150K bracket.

Taxes are around 33-40%.

Give or take after all expenses, you going to save may be $40K a year?(Yes thats not at all the case for consultancies/OPT group which is around 90% of the general populous).

So that adds up to $400K for a decade.

Being Indian we translate that to rupees and it rounds up to Rupee 3.2 Crores taking $ = Rs80 which isnt the case for a decade but you know if we are being generous to smooth out our egos.

For 20 years, if we are careful with investments and all, we might earn/save up to $1M (taking both wife and husbands earnings/investments).

20 years ideally almost every MS guy should look at $1M saved up money, if he/she did everything right and by the book.

How many of you agree with these numbers? If am wrong, where do you think we should adjust the math at?

Also, i didnt consider all the expenses that incur with having/raising kids in usa(thats up to your volition).
