Let’s see… I am 33 years old. I am a nurse anesthetist, and last year, I made about 320K. I work four days a week. 2 twelve hour shifts, one ten-hour shift, and one 24-hour shift (in-hospital, in a bedroom suite, and most days; I work 14–16 out of the 24-hour shift). That’s about 58 hours a week, but the job is not physically intensive. My base salary is about 213K but with occasional overtime and being on call on weekends or whatnot, I end up with 300K+ a year. My partner is also a nurse anesthetist who made 300K a year, working 40 hours a week with occasional overtime (sometimes it’s mandatory if the surgery takes longer than expected). We work at the same place.

We take several international vacations a year. We have six weeks of paid leave and many opportunities to go on 4-day weekend trips. We maxed out my 401K limit annually and saved, on average, 5K a month each. I came out of school with 287K in student loans and paid off 150K during my first year of employment. I continue to pay off my loans aggressively (10–12K a month). I am on track to pay them all off by December this year (2023). My partner’s parents paid for his education, so he incurred no loans.

Life is super comfortable. Our monthly combined income is about 32K a month after taxes. We make it a point to keep our costs low because we want to retire early. We live in a three-bedroom, two-bath apartment, paying around $2400 a month. We will eventually buy a house, 700K or less. We do not have car payments. We own a Honda and a Nissan. I bought a house under my name for my parents, and I make payments on their mortgage of $1000 comfortably.

So what’s it really like: Priceless peace of mind…more money available → less stress, less fighting with your spouse, less family drama, more time to exercise, eat right, travel, read a book, help a friend or family in need. We do not intend to change our way of living.

I hope I have answered your question.

Wow looks like this is the case with most of them then, I think aa stress ki professional demands ki maybe they usually don't work more than 9 months in an year. I heard same is the case with traveling nurses.
