for incoming SMS , no need to activate roaming

So are u saying Roaming is only for receiving calls?

Also what do they charge per each incoming SMS?

If you want sms and call then roaming.

Else otp you can get without roaming.

If possible use eSIM for airtel, there is comfort and ease of use.

Thanks man. Thats where its confusing when the mobile shop keeps saying that we need roaming for international usage and he was asking for 3000 rupees extra for it.

- Also do u know what charge is for each incoming SMS ?

- Do we have to keep giving missed calls every month to keep number active or will it default remain active for a year due to recharge?

If you just need otp , then no roaming and it stays active for 1 yr.

The shop might be right about needing roaming for international usage, but 3000 rupees sounds steep. Regarding incoming SMS charges, it's usually free to receive SMS on most international roaming plans, but you should double-check with Airtel to be sure. As for keeping your number active, my understanding is that if you recharge with a plan that has a validity of one year, you shouldn’t need to keep giving missed calls monthly. However, I'd recommend confirming this with Airtel directly to avoid any surprises. I’ve heard that using an Esim USA might be a convenient option if your phone supports it. It could save you the hassle of dealing with physical SIM cards and their associated issues. Anyone else here have experience with using an eSI M in the US with Airtel?
