Krishna Vamsi penned the story from his viewpoint and this may touch and appeal to only the older generation who are actually averse to going out and watching films in theatres.

He seems to have changed the original story... No one wants to be thrashed and scolded after paying ticket price

It's a remake of Marathi movie- nata samrat by nana patekar. It's a hit movie, where conflict point is not family, but about change in people taste in old and new values, theatre audience decline etc. Here he changed it to father vs evil kids. Many movies came with similar story before
