best to buy in reliable local gold stores, no tax but they charge 75 to 80$ premium on 1 ounce bar. Don't buy at desi stores their premium is high 100$+. Buying online is very expensive ,shipping  and insurance together it becomes expensive compare to buying at local stores

Major city like NY, Dallas, San Jose lo unte manchi desi jeweller is better. They will avoid tax if using cash. Otherwise APMEX is good for buying online but you will have to pay tax,shipping, insurance. 

Also, mana HYD airport is worst for taking gold to India. I know seasoned khiladis who go thru Delhi because akkada gold pedda pattinchukoru anta customs valu. HYD airport very serious ga gold chustaru ani talk.
