you can take to any local merchant and sell any day, you will get that days value - simple. 

If its ornaments you will lose around 8k majoori charges per tula gold, that's why better always to buy in bars/pieces long term.

Also, some local merchants do not charge gst, if possible try to buy with them 916/24 ct mostly, you will save even more. 

normal big shops like Lalitha jewellers, Khazana etc will charge gst, i think its around 18%, thats huge, but some local small sized gold merchants will work around to exclude gst, try that, as that will save so much..
