Until 1981-82, Bindranwale was not branded as a terrorist or separatist leader and negotiations have been happening with a political will...

I read somewhere that Gandhi ordered Operation Bluestar in a fit of rage after Bindranwale refused to lay down arms and vacate Harmandir Saheb complex. Gandhi tried peace negotiation's for a political resolution until a day before bluestar started.

Sikhs wanted an autonomous state (by some) or a separate country (by others) as Pakistan was supporting the Sikhs by supplying them with money and weapons. This was as a ** for tat for the Bangladesh war, that they badly lost. They wanted to break out Punjab from India. Why will India agree to this, especially for a state on Pakistan border??
