The CMO press release was about the chief minister’s grandson Kalvakuntla Himanshu Rao passing his Class 12 examination and receiving his certificate at his school – Oakridge International. The official press release said KCR and his wife Shobha congratulated their grandson on receiving 12th class graduation certificate and “blessed him to pursue higher studies and grow further in life and serve the society.” It further said Himanshu Rao, son of state IT and industries minister K T Rama Rao, received the certificate at the 12th Class Graduation Day celebrations held on the school campus. It said KCR, his wife Shobha, and parents, KTR and Shailima and sister Alekhya and other family members attended the event. “Himanshu Rao was bestowed with the Excellence Award in 'Community Activity Services' (CAS) category for his talent. “After receiving the graduation certificate, Himanshu immediately came down from the stage and took the blessings of grandfather KCR by putting the graduation certificate in his hands. CM KCR heartily congratulated his grandson,” the official release said. The official press release, which runs into at least 700-800 words went on explaining about Himanshu’s talent and achievements. One wonders whether the CMO could be used even for personal achievements of the chief minister’s grandson. “Completing Class 12 is a routine matter. How can it be projected as a big news for the media? And how can the CMO issue such statements as if it is a big public achievement?” an analyst asked. This clearly shows that KCR wants to project his grandson as the future leader of the party.
