Telugu Student Shot Dead at Fuel Station in US

Saiesh Veera, a 24-year-old Telugu student who had gone to the U.S. to pursue his master’s degree, was tragically shot and killed at a Shell gas station in Franklinton, Columbus, Ohio.

The incident occurred at 12:50 am local time and has caused great concern.

Saiesh was originally from Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, and had come to the USA to uplift his family's financial situation after his father's passing two years ago.

He was in the last semester of his studies and had his H1B picked, with graduation just ten days away.

While this incident is very distressing, it is not the first of its kind. There has been an increasing amount of concern over Indian students working at gas stations late at night.

Despite this, many students continue to work late shifts due to financial issues.

International students in the U.S. must be extremely cautious when working part-time jobs, particularly at night. These types of incidents not only impact individuals but also shatter families back home.

An Indian student Saiesha Veera (24) was shot and killed during a suspected attempted robbery at a Franklinton gas station on Thursday morning. Saiesha was in the final semester of his Masters.

Police received a 911 call from a friend of Saiesha about the shooting located at 1000 West Broad Street at 12:50 am.

Saiesha Veera was rushed to Grant Medical Center, where he died at 1:27 am. The surveillance video inside and outside the store was retrieved.

The detectives released pictures of the suspect connected to the shooting.
