TMH took part in the tender in a consortium with the Indian state construction and engineering company RVNL. The Russian firm beat out proposals by companies such as Alstom, Stadler, Siemens, and a consortium of local producers led by Titagarh and BHEL, which bid the second-lowest.

The report further said that the production of the trains will be localised at the Indian Railways, Marathwada Rail Coach Factory, in Latur, Maharashtra.

The Russian-Indian consortium of Transmashholding (TMH) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which functions as an extended arm of the Ministry of Railways, won the tender last month for the production, supply, and maintenance of 120 passenger electric trains (1920 cars) to India. Reports suggest that the contract is worth $1.7 billion, believed to be the largest foreign order in Russian railway engineering.

“Everything will be built in India. Because India has a make-in-India act that requires localization,” Lipa was quoted as saying by the Russian news agency Tass on Tuesday.

Atmanirbar Russia

Bhayya, are you just posting looking at headlines around or are you doing any research before posting?

Vande Bharat can be built by any railway set builders to the specifications set by Indian railways. The contract has been won by Russia’s Mytishchi, in partnership with Railway PSU Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) quoting 120 crores per rail set. The second bid was of BHEL and Titagarh wagons based in kolkata for about 139.8 crores per train set. BEML with Siemens was third with 145 crores per train set.

The railways are going to split the tender in 60-40 ratio if the second bidder can match the lowest bid, so BHEL and Titagarh have an option for 80 train sets if they should choose to build it at 120 crores a piece. If they don't then it will be Indian railways with the russian entity.

Anyways the deal hasn't yet been signed based on wion news, but expected to be signed.

It’s all Jhumla. Russia needs to deliver s400 air defence system. But india can’t pay in usd due to sanctions. Russia not accepting Indian rupees the money reserves india has in euros and dirhams being paid to buy Russian oil. So no more money for s400 so brought a Russian firm to invest that money in India so Russia can deliver that s400.
