Should we ban H1-B workers from travelling across USA? If the person is here for temporary work, why should he be allowed to roam around the country where he has no work?

Dear Sir/ Ma’am,

The H1B workers who come here in United States to work are part of highly skilled immigrants. They have skills that perhaps your country’s work force does not provide, that is the foremost reason why multi national companies get them here or sponsor their visas. A large component of H1B visa workers have been students in various US Universities. They have contributed equally as an American worker, if not more, in taxes, social security and infrastructure. I do not know if you know, H1B workers contribute more in taxes than ordinary American citizens and often times, they do not remain in the country to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Their SSN is forefeited when they go back home and in case their visas do not get renewed.

H1B workers, though they contribute in taxes and hardly break any rules of their adopted nation, they are treated as a second class immigrant. Have you ever tried opening a 529 plan for your child only to be said that because you are a ‘non-resident alien’, you shall not be able to open a 529 account? Though our money contributes to the running of your schools, your roads, your infrastructure, we are not good enough to have economic plans to secure our children’s future.

An H1B worker often does not risk buying a house because he/she does not know, if their family will have a future in this country. Have you ever thought, if all H1B workers went away one day to their native nations, what will happen to your companies, your economy, your taxes? Before posting questions as the above, try thinking about these issues.

I would honestly request you to go back to your Constitution and read the Declaration of Independence; it was the first document of its type in the world. Perhaps you are unaware of the significance the document had in ushering the ideals of liberty, equality and freedom in the world.

This question shows how ignorant, uninformed and unpatriotic you are as an American, if you are an American citizen. It is indeed unfortunate that people like you who habour such ideas are destroying the fabric of this great country….
