If you seriously want to improve your existing english usage, one easier way to try is to note down the words and try to find their meaning and practicing how you can frame them in the sentences.

Just as you mentioned, most people get impressed and don't do much. you can try to frame the same word in a couple of sentences and gradually you will have words coming in to usage.

Apart from this there are udemy and public speaking to spend money and move forward as others have mentioned.
