Bro, your questions has far too many directions to go for answers. 1962 was a disaster that came along with Nehru and Krishna Menon follies. China had built a road through what is Aksai Chin in 1955 on what we thought was our territory and we didn't even know and then Gen Thimayya's resignation over the clash with the defense ministry and eventually leading to Kaul and Thapar (the insufferable journalist Karan Thapars father) running the army.

Nehru's forward policy where a few soldiers went and put up pickets in border at what we considered our boundary and who were neither equipped with clothes or food or weapons properly. All of them went to their deaths when the war occured, a war for which the chinese planned and executed well.

There were some places the Indians fought very very well and those regions still are with us. PVC awardee Major Shaitan Singh Bhatti and his 118 man company of ahirs fought in chusul region in a place called Rezang La.

Now coming to the second part of how you tackle the chinese now - you reduce your imports from chinese and don't give them your markets. its easier said than done, but this pseudo boycott has to come from people as govt banning chinese products will have issues in WTO. if people don't buy chinese products eventually traders will not import.

Militarily, you will have pockets of fights going on like ladakh, chicken neck, Sikkim, Arunachal areas to fight the chinese. And to win war you need logistics sorted out. Soldiers and their individual fighting prowess are not the issue for India currently. Roads and connectivity and supplies go a long way and for a long drawn war India will have to rely on Agni Series of missiles as most of chinese population and business centers are quite far to strike with Aircrafts or short range missles like brahmos.

But before war there will attacks on electricity grids and hacking to bring the country down withput the actual fight. So people must be prepared to face hardships and not give up on fight sign of distress.

Tejas is not from DRDO, but from ADA and is built from the requirements of the air force. People wanted an aircraft that had the space constraints of Mig or the erstwhile Ajeet/Gnat of the Indian air force which were small and maneuverable aircraft that were pretty difficult to spot once airborne.

China will try to fight an unconventional war with India

it has already proved that it can hack Power Grid as it demonstrated with Mumbai power outage once

just as India will have hard time to impose maximum damage to Chinese business center far away from India, India should use this to cut off their supply chains quickly by destroying their airfields and train network.

it is not easy for china to attack India and win like 1961 ever again in history, reason is strong leadership and mountain corps division, chinese solders cannot sustain at heights for too long, they need to rotate soldiers continuously.

china never won a real war, its just their luck in 1961 to have a retard as PM of India.
