Been there atleast 10 times.  Cabins are good. Drive connecting blue Ridge is great.  Fall colors are good.  It is not Niagara falls.  

Rent a cabin for week. Enjoy the stay in mountains.

There is no Picnic spot near Tennessee and Georgia , SC and NC . So this is drivable distance. it has to visit during Aug / sep month only . 
 

ofcrs nothing is there . I don’t know why it’s hyped like that
