market set avatama..dallas worst market..Austin also not good expenses wise..only houston little better housing wise..but stoll dont suggest moving to TX

I'd consider Arizona instead of Texas with your situation unless you're fixated on Texas. If you're fine with Texas weather, you can easily manage AZ and zero winter.

If you plan to buy a house on a single paycheck you'll be much more happy in Arizona considering property taxes.

Texas charm was when it was cheap and affordable, not anymore.
